Genpact (NYSE: G), which manages business processes for companies around the world, announced the official opening of a new delivery center in Cluj-Napoca, its second facility in Romania.

Genpact first opened in Bucharest in September 2005. Genpact Europe CEO Patrick Cogny, who is based in Bucharest, noted, “We wanted to diversify our presence in the country, and Cluj-Napoca seemed like a natural choice, given its population, infrastructure and academic institutions.” Home to a half a million people and Romania’s largest university, Cluj-Napoca is 264 miles (426 km) northwest of Bucharest.

Genpact provides finance & accounting, customer service, procurement and IT services from its two centers in Romania and one in Budapest. Genpact also provides enterprise software services to clients across Europe from centers in the Netherlands and Spain. Genpact has its European sales and marketing headquarters in London.

In ceremonies attended by Cluj-Napoca Vice Mayor Boros Lanos and other municipal and academic dignitaries, Cogny said that Genpact is prospering in Romania – and expects to be successful in Cluj-Napoca – because there is a need for quality, multi-lingual talent in the world and Romania has that resource.

“Companies are re-inventing themselves to cope with global challenges,” remarked Cogny. “Partnering with companies like Genpact is an essential part of their transformation. This is not a trend, it’s an industry. Those who understand it are becoming leaders of their industries.”
