Atlanta-based Eclipsys Corporation (Nasdaq: ECLP), announced strong market success for the company’s revenue cycle management solutions, Sunrise Access Manager and Sunrise Patient Financials, including client outcome improvements as well as a recent successful activation.
Kaleida Health, Buffalo, N.Y., successfully activated Eclipsys revenue cycle management solutions in early 2007, replacing five disparate systems to consolidate medical records, patient access, and patient accounting in one system. Kaleida Health uses Sunrise Access Manager and Sunrise Patient Financials to automate and improve its revenue cycle workflow from the point of scheduling to the point of billing and then automate receivables management for remittance processing.
Since going live, Kaleida Health has achieved the following outcome improvements:
- An increase of $1.4 million in Point of Service collections – significant reduction in cost to collect
- 32 percent decrease in accounts receivable over 90 days
- 9 percent increase in cash collections
“We experienced a very smooth transition to Eclipsys revenue cycle management solutions, which was remarkable considering many of our users had worked with our old systems for more than twenty years,” said Barbara Losi, Kaleida Health’s vice president, Revenue Cycle Operations. “Our users really liked the system’s user interface and how it made their job easier by eliminating many keystrokes.”
Scripps Health, San Diego, Calif., has also used Sunrise Patient Financials to achieve significant financial outcome improvements. In 2000, Scripps Health had lost approximately $14 million for the year. By automating its financial operations using Sunrise Patient Financials, Scripps Health turned that around into an operating margin of about $12 million. Overall, Scripps Health has been able to increase operating income by about $113 million. Scripps Health has also achieved a 27 percent reduction in days in Accounts Receivable.
The latest organization to successfully activate Eclipsys revenue cycle management solutions is Springhill Medical Center in Mobile, Ala. Springhill Medical Center went live on Sunrise Access Manager and Sunrise Patient Financials in January and now has both Eclipsys clinical and financial solutions up and running. Springhill Medical Center represents a growing trend among healthcare organizations who understand the value in having integrated workflows across the enterprise to help improve clinical and financial outcomes such as increased cash collections and participation in pay–for–performance and quality programs.
A few months ago, Eclipsys also announced a significant contract win at North Mississippi Health Services, who selected the Eclipsys solution to streamline billing processes, maximize reimbursements, improve cash flow and enhance patient satisfaction.
